History
The present building was purpose built as a Billiard Hall in 1939 by Miller Construction and was commissioned by the then owners, W & W Maclauchlan (or Old Willie as he was affectionately called). It was simply known as The Snooker Hall, clientele had other names, such as The Gas or The Smoke. On the announcement of Old Willies impending retirement and sale of the premises in 1985, the partnership of two long standing clients, Brian McKeown and Willie Prior purchased it.
Within the first 3 years of ownership a new toilet block had been added along with an building extention to raise the number of tables to 11. The next big change came about in 1995 when the premises were closed for 2 months to install a bar and lounge.
The Manse Club is home to Snooker and Billiard teams who play in the local Edinburgh leagues all of whom have a long and proud history of winning silverware
